Thoughts Before Viewing: I think most people remember hearing this story on the news. I mean, it's not something you can easily forget: a man cuts off his arm with a dull knife to survive. Its not something many people would think of doing, let alone actually do, so it's pretty incredible. When it was announced that Danny Boyle was going to be making a movie about this story, I was very intrigued to see how he would pull it off. Essentially, the movie is about a guy who gets stuck under a rock for 5 days. But it is Danny Boyle, and if anybody could do it, it would be him.
Thoughts After Viewing: This movie is awesome. James Franco delivers a great performance, and once again Danny Boyle has made a beautiful movie. For a movie about a guy stuck under a rock, it never gets boring, and builds perfectly to “the scene.” It was funny to see the two people on both sides of me covering up and turning their heads, but that goes to show how well done it is. It might not be my favorite movie of the year, but it will definitely be high on that list and it is sure to get plenty of Oscar love.
Movie Total: 447
